44. The Ultimate Insult

Five years ago.

"Mother, where are we going?"

The silver-haired little loli in a pretty dress asked Xia Lulu.

At that time, Xia Lulu was dressed in a silver gown, her usual long hair tied up in a high ponytail, exuding elegance and nobility.

"We're going to attend a banquet hosted by the Elf King. He invites all the higher beings of this land to his birthday celebration every year. It's a tradition that has been going on for many years, and it's one of the few times when the higher beings can gather peacefully," she patiently explained to her daughter.

"Oh, I see," Xia Yi nodded thoughtfully.

"Daughter, you must behave at the banquet, don't be as mischievous as you are in our Dragon Clan's palace," Xia Lulu said with a smile, "If you bully other children, it might lead to a war between the higher beings."

"I won't, I'll be good!"

Later, escorted by the royal maids, she and her mother arrived at the banquet hosted by the Elf King.

Their mere appearance attracted everyone's attention. The lively atmosphere of the venue changed instantly, and many people whispered to each other.

After all, these were members of the Dragon Clan.

Throughout history, from ancient times to the present, only the Dragon Clan has dared to confront all the races of the world. Even though thousands of years have passed and the number of dragons has greatly diminished, no race, not even the higher beings, dares to claim to be more powerful than the Dragon Clan.

The Silver Dragon Queen's attendance on behalf of the Dragon Clan was a topic of great interest.

Especially since it was the first time she had brought her daughter into the public eye.

"Is that the Silver Dragon Queen's daughter?"

"She looks exactly like her, with the same silver hair and silver eyes."

"If she grows up, will she be as powerful as Xia Lulu? Maybe she'll become a new threat…"

Xia Yi noticed that everyone's gaze was on her, but thanks to her mother's upbringing, she wasn't shy.

"Mother, so many people are looking at us."

"They're just a bunch of ridiculous creatures, like rats gathered in a gutter, secretly discussing how to deal with a cat. After all their talk, not one has the courage to take the first step," Xia Lulu said with a confident smile.

"Just remember, aside from the Dragon Clan, all other higher beings are worthless."

"Okay!" Xia Yi nodded.

After that, many people came to talk to Xia Lulu.

Although her mother looked down on these people, she still displayed proper social etiquette while maintaining a proud distance.

Xia Yi noticed this and started to imitate it.

But such a banquet was somewhat boring for Xia Yi. Many princes and princesses dared not approach her, fearing they might cause trouble.

Bored, so bored.

She wanted to go out and play.

Thinking this, Xia Yi took the opportunity to slip away while the Elf King and Xia Lulu were talking.

Xia Lulu glanced over and noticed her daughter's figure. Magic flowed through her fingertips, and she sent out a tiny firefly that landed on the little silver dragon's tail.

"What's wrong, Silver Dragon Queen?" the Elf King asked, puzzled.

"Nothing, Elf King. About the trade between the Dragon Clan and the Elf Clan, we can continue to discuss in detail."

Xia Yi left the banquet and wandered around the Elf Clan's palace.

It was different from the Dragon Clan's palace; there were trees everywhere, lush and green, with even some trees so tall they seemed to touch the sky.

"Yip yip."

Xia Yi heard a strange sound and followed it to a bush. Lifting it, she found—

Nine radishes! No, that wasn't right; it was a small pink fox with nine tails.

"Yip yip?!" The little fox was surprised to see Xia Yi.

"Why do you have nine tails? Aren't foxes supposed to have just one?" Xia Yi asked curiously, her eyes sparkling as if she had found a new toy.

"Yip yip…"

But the little fox couldn't speak, responding only with a milky voice, and Xia Yi couldn't understand the language of the foxes.

"Little fox, do you want to play with me? It's so boring here, and no one else wants to play with me."

"Yip yip yip!"

The little fox, seeing Xia Yi's much larger tail, trembled slightly and then took off running.

"I get it, you want to play tag! You're it, and I'll catch you! There's a reward for winning and a punishment for losing!"

Xia Yi, with her top-tier understanding, thought the little fox wanted to play with her.

"I'm going to catch you, rawr!"

"Yip yip!"

The little fox, hearing the dragon's roar, reacted even more intensely, seeing it as a terrifying dragon!

And Xia Yi was right behind, chasing.

This scene, not only witnessed by the elves but also by the foreign guests invited to the banquet, showed the nine-tailed little fox running ahead with Xia Yi in pursuit.

No matter how the little fox tried to escape, she couldn't evade the grasp of the Dragon Clan princess, who easily caught up and wrapped her with her big tail, pulling her into Xia Yi's arms.

"Little fox, you lost, so you have to accept the punishment. Let me rub your tails!" Xia Yi said, holding the little fox.

"Yip yip! Yip yip, yip yip yip!"

The little fox resisted fiercely, but no matter how much she struggled, she couldn't escape from Xia Yi's embrace.

Her nine soft tails were being rubbed and tousled by Xia Yi, feeling utterly humiliated!

"Oh, they feel so nice. Little fox, do you want to be my pet? I can keep you in the garden, and then you'll have lots of friends to play with. There are cats, birds, and little bunnies…"

"Yip yip…"

The tearful little fox felt powerless and gave up resisting.

"I'll go ask my mother for permission first!"

Xia Yi, holding the little fox, returned to the banquet.

For some reason, everyone's attention was on Xia Yi and the little fox.

"Mother, I want to keep this little fox! Can I take her home?" Xia Yi asked, not caring about the others, as she approached Xia Lulu.

The question dropped like a bombshell, silencing the room, and the Elf King's face showed a complex expression.

Xia Lulu, barely containing her laughter at the scene, managed to keep her composure out of politeness.

"No, my daughter."

"Why not? The little fox is so cute, and she keeps going 'yip yip yip'!"

"Because this little nine-tailed fox is—"

Darn it!

Even thinking about it today, Yue Liu was shaking with anger, her tails nearly bristling.

As the daughter of the Nine-Tailed Fox Emperor, to be played with by the Dragon Clan princess as a mere pet, unable to resist, was the ultimate insult! She swore that one day she would get her revenge on Xia Yi!

And so, the fox princess Yue Liu·Jitusier Zhuoya, spurred by the humiliation of that high-ranking beings' banquet, trained diligently until she could take on a human form.

Upon learning that the Silver Dragon Princess was a magician, she deliberately chose to practice swordsmanship, becoming a swordswoman, all to counter Xia Yi and defeat her archenemy completely, to wash away the shame of the past!

Now, she finally had her chance.

All her efforts up to this point were not in vain.

"Xia Yi, my archenemy, you must have been looking forward to this destined duel for many years, haven't you? Rest assured, I have become very strong, a thousand times stronger than you! Today's duel will be recorded in the annals of all races, to be extolled for a million years!" Yue Liu was brimming with fighting spirit, her gaze intense as she watched Xia Yi.

But the three words that the Dragon Clan's little princess uttered next nearly broke Yue Liu, even sending her into a rage—

"Who are you?" Xia Yi asked, looking bewildered.
