7. Penguin Gang
Blocking the entrance to the alley was a local gang from Seaside City, the Penguin Gang. Their leader was a wolf-man named Gil.
The reason they were called the Penguin Gang had little to do with the members.
It was simply because the boss, Gil, had a penguin.
The Penguin Gang was a considerable force in Seaside City, and locals would go out of their way to avoid them.
Today, Gil was patrolling the streets with his underlings when he saw an interesting sight.
On the main street of Seaside City, he saw two beautiful women, strangers from outside, handing out money to the locals.
Gil couldn't help but laugh at the sight of these two women.
It was foolish, considering that due to conflicts everywhere, many people had problems with their basic needs, struggling to get a bite to eat, and here were two kind-hearted outsiders giving away money.
How foolish could these women be to do such a thing?
It was as if they had never been out in society.
Judging by their attire, they were probably naive noble ladies, definitely of high value.
Of course, Gil intended to teach these two women a lesson, to show them what the world was like!
He then led his underlings to catch up with the two women and blocked the alley entrance.
But strangely, even though they were surrounded, the women dared to speak boldly.
"Boss, what is this woman saying?" asked a member of the Penguin Gang, confused.
"She says we're surrounded?"
"I think this woman's brain is scrambled! Haha!!" another member of the Penguin Gang shouted.
The members of the Penguin Gang all burst into laughter, filling the alley with a jovial atmosphere.
Gil looked the two women up and down; they were delicate and unweathered, clearly sheltered young ladies.
He raised his hand to quiet his underlings.
"Don't be nervous, two beautiful misses. I am Gil, the leader of the Penguin Gang. We're in a bit of a bind. Could we talk?"
"A bind?" Sera's gaze was cold.
"Yes, we're so hungry we can't afford to eat. Seeing how generous and kind-hearted you two beautiful ladies are, surely lending us some money wouldn't be a problem, right? Maybe we could even become friends!"
Sera didn't respond.
Gil laughed, clearly, the women were scared, unable to utter a word!
It made sense, these women probably hadn't seen much of the world. Surrounded by so many people, they must be scared to death. Their earlier boldness was probably out of fear, hence the nonsense.
"Two beautiful misses, as long as you cooperate with us nicely and don't resist, we won't do anything to you," Gil said smugly.
Sera was clearly suppressing some impulse.
Xia Yi whispered, "Sera, remember to restrain yourself, we still need to ask questions later."
Xia Yi was worried about this because the dragon race was very arrogant and didn't take other races seriously.
In Sera's eyes, the lives of these people were probably no different from insects on the roadside, easily crushed without a second thought.
"Understood, since it's the Miss's command…"
Sera sighed.
"What are you two whispering about!?" shouted a member of the Penguin Gang, intending to intimidate Xia Yi and Sera by approaching them menacingly.
Thud!
After a loud noise, the Penguin Gang member suddenly found himself in a trash can, eyes rolled back, unconscious.
The previously laughing Penguin Gang members' expressions froze.
"What did you just do!?" Gil demanded.
Sera shook her hand, "So dirty."
Her contemptuous attitude clearly angered the Penguin Gang members.
"You refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit!"
Gil approached Sera, pulling out a small knife and waved it in his hands fancily to intimidate her.
He realized that this maid clearly had some skills and needed to be dealt with seriously.
"My knife, you see… is coated in poison—"
Before Gil could finish, the red-haired maid appeared in front of him.
Sera grabbed Gil by the collar, giving the wolf-man no time to react, and flung him into another Penguin Gang member, breaking the member's bones on impact.
If Gil hadn't been tougher, his spine might have broken too.
Everyone was shocked by this scene.
Then, Sera lifted her foot and stomped down on Gil.
With each stomp, the alley was filled with howls of pain. Under the exaggerated force, the wolf-man's body was almost deformed, completely unable to fight back.
"Stop, stop…! You guys, what are you waiting for!!" Gil shouted, no longer caring about his pride, begging his underlings to save him.
But they…
Without exception, all of them were taken down by Sera, none able to withstand even a single round against her.
Gil was in despair, realizing he had provoked someone he shouldn't have.
He cursed his luck.
Who would have thought such beautiful women could be so fierce in a fight!
"Stop hitting me, please, I give up!!" Gil pleaded, cradling his head desperately.
But Sera didn't stop her assault.
She refrained from using magic, opting instead for brute force to instill fear deep into the bones of the Penguin Gang members.
"Stop, if you keep going, I—I'm really going to die!!"
Gil's face was a patchwork of blue and purple, his head swollen like a pumped-up pig's head.
"Sister, I was wrong!! Just spare me, and I'll do anything, you're my only sister!"
Sera disdainfully ceased her stomping.
"Don't use that term, you're not worthy."
"Okay, okay!" Gil, having lost several teeth and driven by the will to survive, still managed a pained smile.
With that, Sera truly subdued everyone present.
After finishing her task, she returned to Xia Yi's side.
"Miss, it's done."
"Good."
Xia Yi nodded.
The scene had made it clear to everyone that the silver-haired young miss was even more formidable.
"I have some questions for you," Xia Yi said to Gil.
"Of course, what would you like to know, Miss…?"
"You don't have the right to know the Miss's name," Sera interjected with a threatening tone.
Gil was visibly shaken.
"Don't scare him like that," Xia Yi glanced at Sera, "You were a bit too harsh just now, injuring all these people. There was no need for that."
"Sorry, Miss…"
Sera bowed her head.
The good cop, bad cop routine seemed to be quite effective.
Gil's attitude towards Xia Yi became very respectful.
"Miss, what would you like to know? I've been around Seaside City for many years, I'll tell you everything I know!"
Seeing her bait had been taken, Xia Yi smiled.
"The question I want you to answer is very simple…"
