57. Who Could Be So Despicable?
This is a document related to war.
It's a request from Heinrich, the Dragon General, roughly asking for Xia Lulu's permission to deploy troops and wage war against foreign races, to flatten everything with the power of war, to make all races in the world submit, and to restore the glory of the dragon race as the supreme species of ancient times.
After seeing this document, Xia Yi fell into silence.
She had been living in the Dragon Palace for six years and had never heard such voices before.
Regarding this Dragon General, she seemed to have only seen him a few times; he was stationed outside the palace most of the time and was only called back for important matters.
In her memory, the Dragon General also had a fierce and daunting appearance, a very difficult uncle to talk to.
If the dragon race were really to go to war with other races…
Xia Yi had never really considered this matter.
However, Xia Lulu's reaction to the document from the Dragon General was unexpected.
The Silver Dragon Queen's opinion turned out to be disapproval, not agreeing to the request.
"Ah? Why?" Xia Yi blinked in surprise.
"What do you mean, Xia Yi?"
Xia Lulu's reaction was casual, and she quickly approved several more documents, as if dealing with the Dragon General's petition was also a common occurrence.
"No, nothing, I'm leaving!"
Xia Yi forced a smile and left after saying goodbye.
…
Tea time in the afternoon.
Sera, Xia Yi's personal maid, placed the prepared milk tea and desserts in front of her.
Due to the dragon race's characteristics, they require more energy than other races, and they like to replenish energy by eating. Having something to eat before dinner is basically a habit of the entire dragon race.
Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper.
Five meals a day, nothing could be more normal.
"Princess, why do you look so troubled?" Sera asked.
Xia Yi, who had been looking gloomy, returned her attention to the present upon hearing Sera's voice.
"Is that you, Sera?"
"Princess, have you encountered any difficulties?"
"There is a little something."
Xia Yi thought for a moment and decided to talk to Sera.
Sera had been a royal maid for several hundred years and had seen much more of the dragon race than she had.
"Sera, I want to ask, what would happen if the dragon race went to war with the outside world?"
"War?"
This topic was slightly unexpected for Sera; she thought it would be something more everyday, like matters of youthful romance.
But this turned the seriousness up to the max.
"Princess, it's quite unlikely that our dragon race will go to war with the outside world."
"Is… that so? But our dragon race has always been ambitious, and we're not weak either. Even though we can't compare to the ancient times, we're still unmatched by any race in the current world."
"The Queen has no plans to conquer the world for the time being. For the past few hundred years, apart from some friction, there have been no large-scale wars, which is why the world is now in a peaceful era. If the Queen wished, she could drag the entire world into war, but she has no such considerations. Her will is the will of our entire dragon race."
"But there are other voices within the dragon race that want to wage war against the outside world, to restore the glory of the dragon race from ancient times."
"Princess, could it be General Heinrich you're referring to?"
"How did you guess, Sera?"
"Indeed, it is as I thought," Sera chuckled, "While it's true that there are quite a few within our ranks who wish to wage war against the outside world, most would not voice opposition to the Queen's wishes, with one exception: General Heinrich. He is the only one who would speak out openly."
"Is he that strong?"
"Very strong, but the Queen is stronger. Therefore, in the presence of the Queen, Heinrich is not a concern."
"So Xia Lulu is actually against the idea of waging war."
"In fact, the Queen's reasons for not wanting to wage war are not complicated."
Sera began to explain slowly:
"Actually, since the Queen's reign began, the number of our kind within the Dragon Kingdom has been slowly increasing. Although the numbers are not particularly ideal, they are better than at any other time in history. We dragons are strong, but war is war, and even dragons die in battle, leading to a decrease in numbers. The Queen believes that there is no need to end this situation, which is stable and beneficial for the dragon race, by her own hand in a peaceful situation."
"I see."
Xia Yi seemed to have an epiphany.
The dragon race was not united as one; the calm was only on the surface.
But that was normal, wasn't it? There were warmongers, and there were those who preferred peace.
It was surprising that Xia Lulu's true stance was leaning towards the peaceful side.
Despite how the outside world portrayed the Silver Dragon Queen as a terrifying tyrant with boundless ambition, intent on conquering the entire world, the dragon race had just stayed within the Dragon Kingdom for many years without any significant action.
And when Xia Lulu was with Xia Yi, she didn't seem to talk about any ambitions to rule the world either.
"Princess, your milk tea is getting cold," Sera reminded her.
"Oh! I almost forgot, it's tea time now!"
Xia Yi looked at today's dessert, which was hand-brewed milk tea and mousse cake!
What in the world could be more important than enjoying tea time?
As for war and such, that could wait!
Xia Yi picked up her teacup and tasted the maid's hand-brewed milk tea, which was as impeccable as ever.
And the mousse cake was simply sublime!
The delightful sweetness spread across her taste buds, and the exquisite texture made Xia Yi revel in it.
Delicious~~~
Mousse cake is truly scrumptious!
Could there really be anyone in this world who doesn't like cake?
The little princess's tail wagged happily, making her look forward to what tomorrow's tea time dessert would be.
Pudding, perhaps?
"Sera, what's for tea tomorrow?" Xia Yi looked at her maid with hopeful eyes.
"Tomorrow?" Sera hesitated for a moment, "Princess, isn't your tea time for tomorrow cancelled?"
Xia Yi seemed to have suffered a great blow, first stunned, then so angry that even the tuft of hair on her head stood on end.
"Who? Who's the scoundrel canceling my tea time!"
"Princess, who could it be? I'm not quite sure…" Sera was holding back laughter, but as a professional maid, she wouldn't lose her composure.
"Damn it, don't let me find out who did it, or I'll teach that person a lesson!"
Could it be… Gran?
Yes, that old coot is the most suspicious suspect; he has the most motive!
It must be because his request for magical research funding was denied, and he's holding a grudge against me. So he spitefully suggested this to Xia Lulu.
Oh no, that sly old Gran, so malicious!
Gran, since you've ruined my tea time, don't blame me for showing you some color!
Xia Yi was gearing up to confront Gran when suddenly, she remembered something very important that she might have forgotten…
"Oh no, how could I forget!"
