80. The Hero's Downfall

"How could this be…?" Xia Yi felt it was very abrupt upon seeing this.

Although this was the biography of the former King Gerka, most of the content in the latter half of the biography was related to Frey.

He quelled rebellions, avenged his father, expanded the territory, suppressed the rebellious vassal states, and thwarted the conspiracies of other superior races…

It was like the destined hero, brilliant and dazzling. If he continued to grow, he would surely achieve great things, as if he were the center of the world.

Even Gerka lamented that his son had surpassed him by too much, possessing the majesty of the first Dragon King, with limitless prospects.

For this reason, the Black Dragon King even invited a legendary astrologer.

The life-foretelling astrologer had made many predictions that all came true, thus enjoying considerable prestige in many countries.

After seeing Frey, the astrologer, with a solemn expression, directly stated that Frey would bring unprecedented innovation to all the races of this land in the future. He was born with such a responsibility, a saint.

The Black Dragon King was overjoyed upon hearing this.

Frey, on the other hand, was thoughtful and even more determined to actively expand outward, starting with making the vassal states completely submit.

But then, Frey died.

He died at the hands of Xia Lulu.

Did Xia Yi think she had read something wrong? Just as she was about to flip to the beginning of the book to read carefully—

Creak.

The door sounded.

Xia Yi was startled and quickly extinguished the small light orb created by the illumination spell, stuffed the book under the pillow, lay on top of it, and closed her eyes to pretend to sleep.

Through the crack in the door, Sera peeked into the little princess's room.

Xia Yi could clearly feel this gaze.

Sera, you're actually playing this trick!

Good thing I'm quick-witted.

"Princess, are you asleep~" Sera whispered.

"I'm already asleep!" Xia Yi replied subconsciously.

But as soon as she finished speaking, she felt incredibly foolish!

How could she reply if she was really asleep? What am I saying!

"Princess, it's so late, and you're not sleeping yet. You wouldn't be planning to do something naughty, would you?"

"I was going to be asleep, it's all your fault, Sera!! It was you who suddenly called me, causing me to wake up! I've been troubled by many things recently and have been suffering from insomnia. If you keep disturbing me like this, I'll get angry!"

Xia Yi quickly turned the tables, going on the offensive to shamelessly shift the blame onto Sera.

"Alright, alright, Princess, it's my fault, I won't disturb you anymore."

Sera replied helplessly and also closed the door.

Done!!

Xia Yi took out the former Emperor's biography again and continued reading with the illumination magic.

This was really too intriguing.

Xia Lulu's style had changed so quickly.

From her birth, she was just a playful little silver dragon, never showing any ambition or desire.

But the facts were as they were.

Frey was on an expedition, and the other two princes had different tasks, each in other parts of the Dragon Kingdom.

Suddenly, the Black Dragon King Gerka issued an urgent edict to Frey, demanding his immediate return to the Dragon Palace, with the utmost urgency. Everyone, including Frey and his subordinates, believed that this was a sign that the Black Dragon King Gerka was nearing his end and wanted to settle his affairs in advance.

While they expressed regret and sorrow for the Black Dragon King's illness, they also congratulated Frey on his imminent ascension to the throne.

At that time, the palace was only occupied by the seemingly harmless Xia Lulu.

Frey returned to the Dragon Palace as quickly as possible, leaving his army outside, planning to return to the battlefield as soon as possible after handling the urgent matters, as the war could not afford any delay.

However, upon Frey and his confidants' return to the interior of the Dragon Palace, they were ambushed. A massive magical formation was activated, sealing the space and leaving them with no way out.

Instead of his father, Frey was greeted by… Xia Lulu.

Xia Lulu, leading a large number of dragon soldiers, surrounded her own brother. There was no trace of her past innocence in her eyes, only the ruthless determination of an emperor.

Frey was shocked and demanded to see his father.

Xia Lulu rejected all his requests, using the magical formation to command the other dragon soldiers to execute Frey.

She then quickly informed the entire court that Prince Frey had plotted a rebellion, and the Black Dragon King had ordered Xia Lulu to replace him and purge Frey's remnants.

Xia Lulu acted as swiftly as lightning, controlling the army in the name of the Black Dragon King. By the time Frey's supporters realized what had happened, it was too late. Most of the dragons surrendered, and the few who resisted were killed on Xia Lulu's orders.

Ministers who wanted to see the Black Dragon King to verify Xia Lulu's actions were unable to do so. The palace where the king was recuperating had been sealed off by Xia Lulu, and no one could enter.

Not long after, the Black Dragon King passed away, and Xia Lulu presented his will to the dragons, becoming their ruler.

As for Xia Lulu's remaining two brothers, they were furious and determined to fight her to the death. The outcome… was their demise.

Stained with the blood of her kin, Xia Lulu became the Silver Dragon Queen, a tyrannical dictator.

The biography of the former King ended there.

Although the subsequent events were not described, Xia Yi could guess what might have happened.

Xia Lulu would certainly use a series of methods to deal with opposing voices, ultimately securing her power firmly in her hands.

No wonder Xia Yi's uncle had rebelled. The older generation of dragons probably recognized the Dragon Queen outwardly due to pressure, but they might have had other thoughts in their hearts.

"The past of Xia Lulu is really not that simple," Xia Yi reflected after finishing the book, her mind filled with ripples.

From this perspective, Xia Lulu could indeed be called invincible.

Even the heroic Frey fell at her hands.

However, Xia Yi was somewhat puzzled.

Although the Dragon King's biography recorded the facts of the time, Xia Lulu's transformation was somewhat strange.

Something must have happened between the time when Frey was prophesied by the astrologer to start expanding and when he was lured back by Xia Lulu using a false order from the Black Dragon King, something that completely changed Xia Lulu.

In a very short time, she went from a carefree, willful princess to a cold and ruthless dictator.

And the attitude of the Black Dragon King remained unclear.

It's a pity that no matter how much Xia Yi pondered now, there would be no answers. Perhaps only Xia Lulu herself knew the true reasons behind it all.

"Having finished reading, it's time to sleep; it's getting late…"

Xia Yi murmured to herself.

Just as she was about to close the book, on the last page, in the blank space, a line of text appeared out of nowhere—

"The return of the True King shall be marked by the blood sacrifice of the False King."
