79. The History Of The Past
Xia Yi, filled with excitement and anticipation, opened the biography of the former king.
The biography of the Dragon King only records the previous generation's Dragon King. It was impossible to directly read Xia Lulu's biography.
Therefore, the only option was to seek information about Xia Lulu through the biography of her father—Gerka Christie.
Since she was the reigning queen of the dragon clan, there would undoubtedly be many records of her in the biography of the former Dragon King.
Xia Yi was certain of this.
The former king of the dragon race, Gerka·Christie.
His race was different from that of Xia Lulu; he was from the Royal Black Dragon race.
The Royal Black Dragon race and the Royal Silver Dragon race were both relatively rare lineages in dragon history. The descendants of these two royal bloodlines were much more powerful than other dragons.
Gerka·Christie was also known as the Black Dragon King.
The content at the beginning of the king's biography essentially recorded Gerka's life.
To be honest, those parts weren't very interesting to Xia Yi, and she didn't really care about them. In short, Gerka inherited the throne from his father and became the ruler of the Dragon Kingdom.
No matter how flamboyant Gerka's early life was, as a middle-aged man with the responsibility of carrying on his royal bloodline, he had to settle down.
Therefore, Gerka married two dragonesses as his queens.
One was a queen from the same Black Dragon lineage, and the other was a consort from the Silver Dragon lineage.
Dragon fertility was notoriously difficult, so initially, no one expected both the queen and consort to bear Gerka's children.
Yet it seemed Gerka was blessed by a goddess; he miraculously impregnated the Black Dragon Queen.
The Black Dragon Queen gave birth to a boy, to Gerka's great joy, which sparked national celebrations.
The boy was named Frey and became a prince.
"Frey."
Upon reading this name, Xia Yi recalled having heard Gran mention it before; he even referred to him as Prince Frey.
No wonder Master Gran showed such respect for this name—it belonged to a once-great crown prince.
However, this name eventually faded away as if it had completely vanished within the dragon kingdom.
Although still curious, Xia Yi continued reading on.
The little light orb next to her dimmed significantly due to insufficient magical power; it had become challenging to see clearly. Xia Yi lifted her finger and injected some magic into it, restoring its brightness so she could continue reading.
After giving birth to Prince Frey, the Black Dragon Queen subsequently bore two more boys.
All three children were descendants with Black Dragon King lineage, each with exceptional talents.
Such an event was practically miraculous for dragons and was seen by many as a sign that deities had once again looked favorably upon their kind, signaling that dragons were destined to rise again and reclaim their supremacy in the world.
After all, what dragons lacked most were numbers.
The Black Dragon King couldn't be happier.
During this time of joy upon joy, his consort also gave birth to a girl who inherited her mother's lineage—a Silver Dragon—combined with Gerka's Black Dragon King lineage; she had Royal Silver Dragon bloodline.
Her name was Xia Lulu·Christie.
Never had any generation of Dragon Kings possessed four offspring.
A certain Dragon King, in a bid to increase his progeny, even disregarded the quality of his lineage, marrying nearly a hundred common dragonesses, striving tirelessly, and ultimately dying in his bed…
Yet, in the end, he only managed to produce three offspring.
Now, the Black Dragon King had four descendants of royal blood, an ultimate lucky start.
As long as these four heirs grew up, they would all become formidable forces for the Dragon Kingdom.
Especially the eldest, Frey.
Despite sharing the same royal blood, Frey's potential was unprecedentedly outstanding.
It's well-known that pride is ingrained in the dragon's nature.
Yet, Frey did not take pride in his talents; he was remarkably humble, always in control of his emotions, focused on learning and improving. He was gentle, elegant, decisive in his actions, never hesitating or dragging his feet.
This pleased the Black Dragon King greatly, who assigned many tutors to impart knowledge to Frey, intensifying his education.
Frey's workload was several times that of his peers, but he was never overwhelmed.
He was also the youngest prince to step onto the battlefield.
As a youth, Frey led the army to quell a civil unrest within the dragon race, using mature strategies and exceptional courage, achieving victory with minimal losses, and preventing the war from further harming the Dragon Kingdom.
Perfection was synonymous with Frey; he was like the protagonist of a novel.
Such an excellent successor was rare in the history of the dragon race.
In comparison, his brothers, though also talented, were far behind in both temperament and potential.
In another era, they might have vied for the throne, but being in the same age as Frey, their brilliance was completely overshadowed. They understood their fate and chose to wholeheartedly support Frey.
As for Xia Lulu…
Xia Lulu and her brothers were complete opposites. The Royal Silver Dragon lineage was indeed exceptional, but from a young age, she was mischievous and did not share Frey's grand aspirations for the nation. She was more concerned with what to have for afternoon tea and how to tie knots in Gran's beard.
She was the capricious little princess of the dragon palace.
Being the beloved daughter and having no desire for power, the Black Dragon King indulged her after seeing through Xia Lulu's nature, leaving many at a loss on how to handle her.
Although they had different mothers, by the king's command, the three princes did not discriminate against Xia Lulu.
Xia Lulu tried to play tricks on Frey, but he saw through them. She realized her eldest brother was not easy to deal with, as none of her schemes ever troubled him, so she simply gave up.
"Was Xia Lulu really like this before? She has a completely different personality now!!" Xia Yi was astonished.
Although she was somewhat prepared, seeing it firsthand was still unbelievable. How could such a person become the future queen of the dragon race?
Everyone believed Frey would become an excellent Dragon King.
His brothers wanted to assist Frey in leading the dragon race to resurgence.
The innocent Xia Lulu had no thoughts of becoming the Dragon King.
Frey grew up carrying everyone's hopes. Later, as the Black Dragon King aged and was betrayed and severely wounded in battle with a high-ranking king of another race, Prince Frey took his place in the war, vanquishing the enemy and becoming a hero of the dragon race.
This greatly elevated Frey's prestige within the Dragon Kingdom, and he even began to overshadow the Black Dragon King.
Just when everyone thought Frey would inherit the Dragon Kingdom and lead the dragons to a new era of prosperity, a tragic turn of events occurred.
Frey died.
He perished at the hands of Xia Lulu.
Oh damn.
